TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing

LAFC have signed South Korean right back Kim Moon-Hwan, the club announced on Monday. He was acquired using Targeted Allocation Money.

Moon, 25, made 120 appearances for Busan IPark, with nine goals and seven assists, over the last four seasons. He helped the Korean side earn promotion to the top flight in 2019. He has 11 caps with the South Korean national team.

ā€œMoon is a dynamic, exciting player who also brings top international experience to our team,ā€ LAFC Co-President & GM John Thorrington said in a club statement. ā€œHe is an intelligent and versatile defender in the prime of his career, and our Club and our supporters are incredibly excited he chose LAFC for the next phase of his career.ā€

It could be a sneakily significant addition to an LAFC back line that was erratic at times in 2020, as Moon was a standout performer in K. League 1 for Busan IPark last season in the club's first campaign in South Korea's top flight after gaining promotion.

The club wound up getting relegated again, but Moon was arguably their best player, showcasing his two-way skillset and an impressive ability to get forward, send in accurate crosses, and even find the scoresheet himself.

It will be Moon's first time playing professionally outside South Korea. He's a two-time Best XI selection in K. League 2.

LAFC had been thin at right back after Andy Najar departed this offseason. Tristan Blackmon deputized the position during LAFC's Concacaf Champions League in December.
