Former LA Galaxy defender Jorgen Skjelvik won't be returning stateside, as Danish club Odense Boldklub announced it is signing the 29-year-old to a permanent deal in a Thursday release.

Skjelvik spent the 2020 season with Odense after he was transferred on a one-year loan from the Galaxy in January. His new deal with Odense will keep him with the club through 2023, according to the release.

Skjelvik arrived at the Galaxy in December 2017 on a free transfer after spending his career in Norway and Sweden, and featuring for Norway's national team in 2018 World Cup Qualifying. He played in 32 of LA's 34 regular season matches in 2018, but he only played in 20 matches for the Galaxy in 2019 prior to his loan.

He ends his time in MLS with 52 league appearances (48 starts) for the Galaxy, dishing out four assists and scoring one goal in 4,266 MLS minutes.
