TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing
Austin FC have acquired defender Jhohan Romana from Paraguayan side Club Guarani, the club announced Tuesday.
Romana, 22, is a center back with extensive experience already. He has 30 professional appearances, including 12 in the Copa Libertadores, after spending 2016-18 with Colombian giant Independiente MedellĆn.
āJhohan is a dynamic and versatile defender who has demonstrated his abilities playing in important national and continental competitions with GuaranĆ,ā sporting director Claudio Reyna said in a club statement. āAt a young age, he is also a proven player who will contribute depth to the squad. We are pleased to welcome him ahead of our inaugural season.ā
Romana has been playing alongside fellow Austin FC signings Rodney Redes and Cecilio Dominguez for the last few months. Austin acquired Redes from Guarani while Dominguez was loaned there after signing with the expansion side this summer.
The club continues to build their expansion roster for 2021.
