Columbus Crew SC could be making a significant addition to the depth of their MLS Cup-winning roster, according to a report from Patrick Murphy of The Columbus Dispatch linking them to prolific veteran forward Bradley Wright-Phillips.

Per Murphy, there is mutual interest between the sides, with Wright-Phillips available via free agency after having his contract option declined by LAFC.

The Crew have an established starter at the position in Gyasi Zardes, but you'd be hard-pressed to find a more proven depth piece to have than Wright-Phillips, as he demonstrated during his one season with LAFC. Wright-Phillips showed he's still got it in 18 appearances for Bob Bradley's side in 2020, putting up eight goals and six assists in 1,081 minutes.

He boasts a track record as one of the most productive strikers in the history of the league dating back to his lengthy stint with the New York Red Bulls, which saw him rack up 126 goals across all competitions and win a pair of MLS Golden Boots. A club like Columbus coming off an MLS Cup title that wouldn't require BWP to carry a full starter's load of minutes might just make for an ideal fit.
