I'm told Santiago Rodriguez who scored the 2nd in Nacional's 6-2 defeat in #CopaLibertadores last night, has everything set to join #NYCFC next season.

The development would line up with an announcement from Nacional last month that Rodriguez had signed with the City Football Group, which includes New York City FC. Previous reports had been conflicting, though, as to which City Football Group side Rodriguez would join, with Spanish second-division side Girona also a possibility.
Should it indeed turn out to be NYCFC, the Cityzens would be getting a prospect with a lot of upside. The 20-year-old has earned a reputation as a player with dynamic potential during his time with Nacional, with 11 first-team goals to his name. He also scored his club's second goal in their 6-2 defeat to River Plate in Copa Libertadores play on Thursday.
This is some of the quality that #NYCFC will be getting with the acquisition of Uruguayan playmaker Santiago Rodriguez.— Niko Moreno (@ELROLONW) December 18, 2020
