TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Trade

Charlotte FC have acquired midfielder Brandt Bronico from Chicago Fire FC, the clubs announced Friday. As part of the deal, the clubs will swap fourth-round 2022 MLS SuperDraft selections.

The midfielder is returning to an area he's familiar with after spending his collegiate career at UNC-Charlotte.

Bronico, 25, has made 66 MLS appearances over four seasons in the league, all with Chicago. He made 10 appearances (three starts) in 2020.

The Fire declined Bronico's 2021 contract option after the season.

“We would like to thank Brandt for his contributions to the club,” Fire sporting director Georg Heitz said in November. “He is a true professional and we wish him nothing but the best moving forward.”

Bronico is Charlotte's third-ever player ahead of joining MLS in 2022, following Sergio Ruiz and Riley McGree.
