Gonzalo Higuain scores first MLS goal for Inter Miami with stunning free kick golazo

It may have taken a little time in coming, but Gonzalo Higuain's first goal in MLS for Inter Miami was more than worth the wait.

The Argentine striker showed just why he's been such a prolific striker for some of Europe's top clubs over the past decade with a stunning 81st-minute free kick which proved the game-winner in a 2-1 victory against the New York Red Bulls at Red Bull Arena on Wednesday.

It was Higuain who won the free kick 20 yards from goal and immediately set his eyes on the ball. And there was nothing Red Bulls goalkeeper David Jensen could do as Higuain sent the ball screaming into the far top corner of the net.

While the goal was no surprise for a striker who broke Italy's single-season scoring record while at Napoli, the method was. In 428 matches in Europe's top five leagues, Higuain had never scored from a direct free kick.
