Ulysses Llanez debuts for Heerenveen, Reggie Cannon goes another 90 for Boavista

Uly Llanez - SC Heerenveen

It was a fairly busy Friday for young American exports in Europe, highlighted by a debut in the Dutch Eredivisie for LA Galaxy academy product Ulysses Llanez.

Uly Llanez (SC Heerenveen)

Llanez, who is 19 and received his first senior US men's national team cap in a February 1 friendly, made his first appearance in the matchday squad for SC Heerenveen since completing his season-long loan from Germany's VfL Wolfsburg. Llanez would enter in the 67th minute of their trip to FC Utrecht with the score knotted at 1-1.

There would be no more goals in the game, though Heerenveen were forced to play the final seven minutes plus stoppage time down a man. The draw was the first blemish on Heerenveen's record in the 2020-21 campaign after they one their first three matchups, though it puts them alone in first place at least until Sunday.

Reggie Cannon (Boavista)

Elsewhere on Friday, recent European arrival Reggie Cannon got another full 90 minutes for new club Boavista, who also earned a 1-1 draw away from home against Moreirense in Portugal's top flight.

The 22-year-old Cannon has now started and gone the full 90 in all three of his appearances for Boavista (and the first three league games of the Portuguese season) since joining on a transfer from FC Dallas, in which the team has posted a record of 0W-1L-2T.

Cannon also showed off some skill against Moreirense, pulling off this dribbling move between two defenders in the attacking half:

Ian Harkes, Dillon Powers (Dundee United)

Up in Scotland, one other American saw action while another one of his compatriots watched on.

Ian Harkes started for Dundee United in their Scottish Premiership clash with Livingston and went the full 90, but his side fell victim to a comeback in a 2-1 loss. Former Colorado Rapids midfielder Dillon Powers was also in the squad for Dundee United, but did not see the field.
