MLS provides latest COVID-19 testing update

As part of the league's regular updates with aggregated COVID-19 testing results, Major League Soccer issued the latest results of COVID-19 testing for players, coaches, and staff throughout the league:


Update: Oct. 2, 2020


  • The number of samples collected and tested was 6,052 from 1,447 individuals;
  • There were seven new confirmed positive cases among players and 10 new positive cases among staff members. The announced Colorado Rapids cases account for four of the new cases among players and all of the new staff member cases;
  • COVID-19 testing results spanned Thurs., Sept. 24 through Wed., Sept. 30. 


Update: Sept. 25, 2020


  • The number of samples collected and tested was 5,822 from 1,486;
  • There were zero new confirmed positive cases among players and staff members;
  • COVID-19 testing results spanned Thurs., Sept. 17 through Wed., Sept. 23. 


Update: Sept. 18, 2020


  • The number of samples collected and tested was 16,912 from 4,379;
  • Five of these individuals have been new confirmed positive cases;
  • There were four new confirmed positives among players and one new confirmed positive among staff members;
  • COVID-19 testing results spanned Thurs., Aug 27 through Wed., Sept. 16. 


Update: Aug. 28, 2020


  • The number of samples collected and tested was 18,646 from 1,455 individuals;
  • 8 of these 18,646 samples, which is 0.04%, have been new confirmed positive cases;
  • There were 2 confirmed positives among players and 6 among staff members;
  • COVID-19 testing results spanned the conclusion of the MLS is Back Tournament through Wed., Aug 26.
