TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report
According to a Tuesday report from Miguel Delaney of The Independent, Miami have had dialogue with Barca striker Luis Suarez about joining the club, in what would be a huge move for David Beckham and Co. if they can pull it off.
Per Delaney, Suarez has been told he's on the outs at Barcelona, and is looking to stay in Europe as his first choice. But Miami feel as though they'll be able to make an offer that would top their competitors for his services, given health concerns surrounding Suarez's knee.
Suarez has spoken to Beckham-fronted Inter Miami, and there is a confidence.— Miguel Delaney (@MiguelDelaney) August 25, 2020
Messi has spoken to them too... but for the future, not nowhttps://t.co/qMtXOW1Gbt
No one would be on quite the same level as a Messi signing, but Suarez would be about as close as you can get. He's 33 now, but the forward is one of the best goal-scorers of his generation for both club and country. He's put up eye-popping numbers everywhere he's been, including a stint in the English Premier League with Liverpool that saw him find the net 82 times in 133 games and his run with Barca that has seen him net 198 goals in 283 appearances across all competitions.
He also has exactly the type of international star power and name recognition Beckham is said to be looking for. It seems like Miami has been linked to every big name in the world at this point, so who knows if this is more smoke than fire, but it's certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
