Orlando City SC forward Dom Dwyer undergoes successful knee surgery

Orlando City SC forward Dom Dywer has undergone successful arthroscopic surgery on his left knee to treat a partial patella tendon tear, the club announced in a Saturday release.

Dwyer had previously been ruled out of the remainder of the MLS is Back Tournament with the injury. The 30-year-old is expected to be sidelined for 4-6 months.

Dwyer had yet to find the scoresheet this season, picking up one assist in 124 MLS minutes. For his MLS career, he has 81 goals and 18 assists in 195 games, starting with a six-season stint with Sporting Kansas City before he joined Orlando City in 2018.

Without Dwyer, the Lions have still managed to embark on an impressive tournament run and are coming off a huge quarterfinal triumph over LAFC that has them playing in the semifinals on August 6 (8 pm ET | ESPN2, ESPN Deportes in US; TSN in Canada).
