One-time New York City FC academy prospect Augustus McGiff has signed his first professional contract with English Championship side Reading FC.
The move was announced by the club on Thursday, with McGiff joining a pair of other academy prospects who completed deals with the Royals.
"American striker Augustus McGiff celebrates his 18th birthday with a professional contract with the Royals following the culmination of his scholarship year," Reading said in Thursday's release.
McGiff joined the Reading organization after scoring 19 goals in 20 games last season for NYCFC's U-16/17 side. He scored his first goal for Reading's U-23s in highlight-reel fashion back in February, hitting home a cross with a cheeky bicycle kick. Watch it below.
