Before MLS is Back Tournament, these teams will prepare with scheduled friendlies

Columbus Crew and Minnesota United on Friday announced they will play a pair of closed-door, 90-minute scrimmages on Sunday, July 5 to prepare for their MLS is Back Tournament openers.


Columbus will open their tournament on July 11th against Hell is Real Derby rivals FC Cincinnati (10:30 pm ET | FS1, TSN) in Group E, while Minnesota as part of Group F start the following day evening against Sporting Kansas City (8 pm ET | FS1, TSN)


New York City FC and FC Dallas on Wednesday became the first clubs to announce a friendly prior to the start of the tournament on July 8. The two teams, who were originally set to meet in a Week 3 regular-season encounter, will play their exhibition on Saturday, July 4.


Here's a look at which teams have announced friendly matches ahead of the MLS is Back Tournament:


  • July 4: NYCFC vs. FC Dallas
  • July 5: Columbus Crew vs. Minnesota United (two 90-minute scrimmages)
