Minnesota United hosting live-streamed concert for George Floyd Memorial Fund

The killing of George Floyd hits extra close to home for Minnesota United, so the club's hosting a live-streamed concert with Minnesota native Charlie Parr this Sunday (7 pm ET) at Allianz Field.

The concert will benefit the Official George Floyd Memorial Fund and Project for Pride in Living, with the entire event streamed on the Loonsā€™ various digital channels. Those looking to donate to the Official George Floyd Memorial Fund can click here, or here for the PPL.

Aside from the concert, Minnesota are also selling a ā€œMinnesota: Unitedā€ t-shirt, with all proceeds benefiting the Midway United Fund. That organization is geared towards sustaining the vitality and identity of the Union Park and Hamline Midway neighborhoods.

The Official George Floyd Memorial Fund helps to cover funeral and burial expenses, mental and grief counseling, lodging and travel for all court proceedings, and to assist the family as they seek justice for George. A portion of these funds will also go to the Estate of George Floyd for the benefit and care of his children and their educational fund.

Project for Pride in Living builds the hope, assets and self-reliance of individuals and families who have lower incomes by providing transformative affordable housing and career readiness services. PPL strives to be an equitable and inclusive organization committed to elevating the voices of the communities that are disproportionately affected by systemic inequities.

Parr has released 14 studio albums and performs at venues such as the Newport Folk Festival, The Kennedy Center, The Troubadour and Bowery Ballroom.
