NYCFC romp over Vancouver Whitecaps in eMLS showdown

New York City FC and the Vancouver Whitecaps squared off in a two-leg eMLS showdown on Saturday, and it was NYCFC who got the better of the matchup, cruising to a 4-1 aggregate victory courtesy of a trio of goals from Heber and another tally from Maxi Moralez.

Fredy Montero netted the only goal for Vancouver in the 80th minute of the first leg.

The teams were played by their club eMLS pro FIFA player representatives, with Chris Holly manning the controls for NYCFC and Alex Exraa playing for Vancouver.

Heber got NYCFC on the board just a few minutes from the halftime whistle of the first leg.

After Moralez put NYCFC up 2-0 with another goal in the 68th minute, Montero would cut the lead in half with a tally in the 80th, but Heber added a second just before the final whistle to give NYC a commanding 3-1 advantage heading into the second leg.

Valentin Castellanos scored the only goal for either side in the 70th minute of the second leg, giving Holly and NYCFC the 4-1 aggregate victory.

The match kicked off a big day on the eMLS circuit, with Nashville SC taking on Columbus Crew SC, Minnesota United taking on the Montreal Impact and Sporting Kansas City taking on the San Jose Earthquakes. The full schedule and streaming information can be found below.
