Inter Miami CF owner and president David Beckham and his wife Victoria took to Instagram on Friday to echo a sentiment expressed by many around the Major League Soccer community following Thursday's announcement the league had suspended its season for 30 days due to concerns over the ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic.
"It's times like these when we are reminded of the things that are truly important in life...In these moments, sports take a back seat," David Beckham wrote. "We must all listen to expert advice and do the right thing."
It’s times like these when we are reminded of the things that are truly important in life. Our health, our loved ones and looking after those that need support in our communities. Inter Miami had been scheduled to host the first home game in club history against Beckham's former team, the LA Galaxy, at Inter Miami CF Stadium in Fort Lauderdale prior to Thursday's announcement. The expansion side had dropped two close road results to start its MLS existence — a 1-0 defeat to LAFC on March 1 and a 2-1 result to D.C. United on March 7.
