Inter Miami CF welcome 3,000 fans to open practice before home debut against LA Galaxy

The hype ahead of Inter Miami CF’s home debut this Saturday (3 pm ET | FOX, MLS LIVE on DAZN in Canada) against LA Galaxy is already building. Just ask the 3,000 fans who recently took in what the new Inter Miami CF Stadium has to offer.

The expansion club held an open training session on Tuesday, complete with head coach Diego Alonso and captain Luis Robles grabbing the microphone to offer some words of encouragement.

Alonso went as far as to say “a championship is possible,” switching back and forth between English and Spanish during his speech. Robles, a goalkeeper who signed as a free agent after eight years with the New York Red Bulls, had a clear message.

“This is a team with support, a team that has a lot of heart, that’s going to fight for 90 minutes,” Robles said. “When we play on Saturday we expect the same from our fans, 90 minutes of energy, of passion, and we’re going to get three points together.”

Inter Miami have already sold out of season tickets for the 2020 season, with South Florida galvanizing behind the new club. Some tough results haven’t turned away the fans, either, after early-season losses at LAFC and D.C. United.

The club made a splash in preseason, too, when landing Mexico national team midfielder Rodolfo Pizarro. Another key international player is Argentina national team center back Nicolas Figal, who offered a message to fans alongside Pizarro and other Spanish-speaking teammates.
