Colorado Rapids 2, Orlando City SC 1 | 2020 MLS Match Recap

After a last-minute win against D.C. United in Week 1, the Colorado Rapids repeated the trick as defender Drew Moor put in a late goal to give his side all three points at home in Week 2 against Orlando City SC.

After a back-and-forth battle, the score was still 0-0 going into halftime. But 20 minutes into the second half the deadlock was broken when Rapids star midfielder Younes Namli found the back of the net to open his MLS account. Keegan Rosenberry passed it to Namli in the middle, who quickly turned, eluded a handful of defenders and then took the shot from the top of the 18-yard box.

As the game was winding down, Orlando broke through the Rapids' defense with a perfectly timed through ball from Andres Perea to Mueller, who provided the finish less than five minutes after being subbed in.

The Rapids are known for being deadly on set pieces and in the 90th minute Drew Moor got his head on a corner kick from Jack Price to give Colorado another late win.

Three Things

  • THE BIG PICTURE: The Rapids, led by head coach Robin Fraser, were hoping to put on a show at home and they have started the season strong with two wins and six points. Orlando needed to find a way to put the ball in the back of the net even when missing forward Dom Dwyer. They got on the board, but it wasn't enough to get the win tonight.
  • MOMENT OF THE MATCH: The Rapids continue to be dangerous on set pieces and specifically with deliveries from Jack Price. Another late goal was the difference for Colorado tonight.
  • MAN OF THE MATCH: Clint Irwin came up big in the first half to keep Orlando at bay and give his club a chance to get all three points after the break.
