Seattle Sounders' Jordan Morris voted MLS Player of the Week for Week 1

Jordan Morris only played 45 minutes in the Seattle Sounders' season-opening home matchup against Chicago Fire FC on Saturday, but that was more than enough time for him to take home MLS Player of the Week honors for Week 1.

Coming off the bench as a substitute with Seattle on a quick turnaround following a Thursday Concacaf Champions League game, Morris dominated Saturday's second half from start to finish, eventually scoring both of his team's goals and bagging a dramatic game-winner in second-half stoppage time to give the Sounders a 2-1 victory

Big things are certainly expected from Morris this season after he scored 10 goals and racked up seven assists in 2019 while helping lead Seattle to a second MLS Cup title, while also taking home Comeback Player of the Year honors after missing all of 2018 with a torn ACL. Through half a game, he looks set to pick up where he left off in 2020.

The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season through both media and fan voting in a process conducted by MLS Communications. A panel of journalists from the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) comprises 75 percent of the vote, while a Twitter fan vote represents the remaining 25 percent of the voting. NASR consists of members of print, television, radio and online media.
