Cristian Pavon opens 2020 account for LA Galaxy with golazo at Houston Dynamo

Cristian Pavon - LA Galaxy - roar

The first AT&T Goal of the Week race of the 2020 MLS season already has a frontrunner thanks to a golazo from LA Galaxy winger Cristian Pavon.

The Argentine gave LA a momentary lead at BBVA Stadium against the Houston Dynamo, starting by collecting a driven punt from goalkeeper David Bingham in the 13th minute. Then, Pavon did the rest before beating Dynamo goalkeeper Marko Maric with a powerful curler:

The golazo was similar to one Pavon scored in LA’s preseason, when he dribbled through Toronto FC’s defense and sent a 25-yard bullet into the far top corner.

Pavon, 24, joined LA on loan last August from Boca Juniors and the loan deal was extended through the 2020 season. In 13 starts last year across the playoffs and regular season, Pavon had four goals and eight assists.
