TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Extension

The Philadelphia Union have extended the contract of striker Kacper Przybylko through the 2023 season after previously being under team option through 2021, the club announced Friday.

Przybylko is coming off a breakthrough 2019 season in which he had a team-leading 15 goals and four assists.

"Kacper’s impact on our team was decisive in our run to the playoffs last season,” Union sporting director Ernst Tanner said in a statement. “He was among the most effective attackers in our league and combines size, skill, and tenacity in a unique way that makes him a great fit for our playing style. This contract extension reflects our belief in him and we are happy to ensure he continues to wear the Union badge.”

The 26-year-old initially signed with the Union ahead of the MLS Roster Freeze in September 2018. Following a long injury rehab, Przybylko was one of the league’s top newcomers in 2019.

His 15 goals were second on the Union’s all-time single-season goals list. Additionally, he became the 10th MLS player, and second Union player, to score in each of his first three league starts, as well as the third Union player to ever score in four consecutive appearances.
