Heber, Pity Martinez, Clement Diop named to Champions League Best XI

Heber - New York City FC - CCL goal celebration

It was a pretty good start for Major League Soccer teams in the Concacaf Champions League with four of the five participants earning either a win or a draw on the road in the first leg of the Round of 16.

There were also strong individual performances with three MLS players named to the Concacaf Champions League Team of the Week for the first leg of the Round of 16.

NYCFC striker Heber, who netted a hat trick in 5-3 win over San Carlos, was joined by Pity Martinez, who set up Josef Martinez’s equalizer in Atlanta United's 1-1 draw at Motagua, and Clement Diop. The Montreal Impact goalkeeper conceded late twice in a 2-2 draw at Saprissa, but made eight critical saves as he was under siege for most of the second half.

The decisive Round of 16 second legs all take place next week from Tuesday, Feb. 25 through Thursday, Feb. 27. Check out the schedule here.
