There’s no Video Review in the Concacaf Champions League and maybe that’s a good thing for CD Olimpia, who could have been reduced to 10 men for the final 65 minutes of a 2-2 draw against the Seattle Sounders Thursday night in Honduras.
On a free kick played to the edge of the six-yard box, Olimpia’s Yustin Arboleda came in studs up and connected with Stefan Frei. The Sounders goalkeeper objected, resulting in a few shoves between the teams.
Only a yellow card for Yustin Arboleda, whose studs caught Stefan Frei in the ribs. #Sounders not pleased, but unlikely for that to be a red card in CONCACAF. #OLIvSEA #SCCL2020 #CCL pic.twitter.com/g05o28L0bi— Joga Bonito (@Jasoninho10) February 21, 2020
Referee Juan Calderon booked both with matching yellow cards. Sounders officials were infuriated Arboleda stayed on. Making things worse for Seattle and its fans, Arboleda struck for a second-half brace to secure the draw and earn Man of the Match honors.
Después de ir abajo en el marcador 2-0, Yustin Arboleda anotó un doblete para empatar el partido. Por esto es nombrado el Jugador del Partido. ¡Felicidades! 🎉 | @CDOlimpia #SCCL2020 #OLIvSEA pic.twitter.com/cNQCFz38tY— Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League (@TheChampions) February 21, 2020
