MLS Preseason 2020: San Jose Earthquakes close preseason with 3-1 loss to Sacramento Republic

Cameron Iwasa - Eric Calvillo - SJvSAC

The San Jose Earthquakes closed their preseason with a 3-1 defeat to USL Championship side Sacramento Republic on Friday in a closed-door exhibition at Avaya Stadium.

Cam Iwasa opened the scoring before Drew Skundrich added a brace for the visitors, who avenged a 4-3 loss to San Jose in last year's U.S. Open Cup fourth-round meeting. Andy Rios scored the Quakes' lone goal in the 13th minute to cap a three-goal flurry at the start of the game.

The Quakes did not disclose lineups in their final preseason meeting. It was the rare low-scoring preseason match from them, after scoring 11 goals across their last three preseason outings.
