LA Galaxy sign Jonathan Perez to Homegrown Player deal as 10th player from development system

The LA Galaxy have signed midfielder Jonathan Perez to a Homegrown Player contract, the club announced Friday. The 17-year-old attacking midfielder has been in the Galaxy academy since 2016.

“Jonathan has been a bright prospect in our Academy and we think he is ready to begin his career as a professional,” said Galaxy GM Dennis te Kloese said in a statement. “We believe he will continue progress in his career with the Galaxy. We look forward to Jonathan learning and growing in our professional environment.”

Perez has over 100 appearances and 41 goals across academy levels since he joined the Galaxy setup. He's now one of 10 players now on the club's first-team roster to be signed through the Galaxy’s developmental system.

The son of Mexican parents, TUDN.com points out that Perez has previously been called up by the Under-16 Mexican national team on multiple occasions.
