TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report
The Portland Timbers are signing a member of Venezuela's recent Olympic qualifying effort in a move that will add depth at center back, according to Federico Rojas of DirecTV Sports.
The Timbers would acquire Williams Velasquez on loan from English Premier League side Watford.
Report that PTFC is signing Williams Valásquez on loan with an option to buy. 22-yo CB Venezuelan youth int’l, including Olympic qualifying this year with Pablo Bonilla. Had been loaned out from Watford (for whom he never played). Seems like a fringe first-team/T2 guy. #RCTID https://t.co/uAdY3HfmpO— Chris Rifer (@ChrisRifer) February 19, 2020
Velazquez never actually saw the field for Watford, and was most recently on loan with Japanese second division side JEF United.
He made three starts during the recently concluded Conmebol Pre-Olympic Tournament for La Vinotinto, which finished fourth in Group A play.
