TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report
Orlando City SC are eyeing some attacking reinforcements in the form of Spanish midfielder Alvaro Garcia, according to a Thursday report from Diaro AS.
Per AS.com's Maite Martin, OCSC are targeting the 27-year-old, who currently plays for Rayo Vallecano of Spain's Segunda Division. Garcia is currently in the midst of a five-year deal with Rayo, which he inked in 2018 as the most expensive signing in club history. However, he's since been unable to consistently crack the club's starting XI, leading to speculation he might be eyeing an exit.
While Orlando City's interest appears legitimate, the report does note that a potential move might be complicated by recent hits Rayo has taken on its depth chart due to injuries and key losses in the winter transfer market. Garcia started 17 of his 35 appearances last year, netting four goals, and has scored twice in 1,284 minutes across 14 starts this season.
Prior to signing with Rayo, Garcia did a lengthy stint with Cadiz CF, netting 24 times in 115 appearances from 2015-2018.
