Inter Miami acquire Colombian youth international Andres Reyes, Bolivian defender Jairo Quinteros

TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Loan

Inter Miami announced a pair of South American signings on Thursday morning. The club acquired Colombian center back Andres Reyes on loan from Atletico Nacional, with a purchase option after the loan. Miami also acquired Bolivian defender Jairo Quinteros from La Liga side Valencia and will loan him to Club Bolívar for the 2020 season.

Reyes, 20, is a member of the Colombian U-23 national team and has made 19 appearances with Nacional in his young career. He was on Colombia's squad at the U-20 World Cup as well, as they made it to the semifinals of the tournament last May.

“Andres is a sturdy defensive presence with a lot of potential,” sporting director Paul McDonough said in a statement. “We continue adding a few more quality pieces to our roster during the final stretch of preseason, and believe in Andres we have a solid, quick and precise defender in the backline.”

Reyes is Miami's fourth South American player aged 20 or younger on the roster, following Argentine attackers Matias Pellegrini and Julian Carranza and Venezuelan midfielder/defender Christian Makoun. He also takes up the club's fourth international slot, leaving Miami with four more to fill.

Quinteros, 20, spent the last few years in Valencia's academy. He will spend time with Club Bolivar, who are in this year's Copa Libertadores. He's a regular member of the Bolivian youth international set up, most recently with the U-23 side.

“Jairo is a talented defender who has represented his country at several youth stages, and we look forward to continue his development with one of Bolivia’s best clubs, Club Bolivar, of which one of our owners, Marcelo Claure, is also the president of,” said McDonough. “This is a great example of our global ownership working together to acquire quality players.”

Miami's inaugural roster continues to take shape, filling out the squad. They still have two open Designated Player slots, though the latest reports suggest Mexican star Rodolfo Pizarro will fill one of those
