MLS Preseason 2020: New York Red Bulls fall 2-1 to Phoenix Rising FC despite Tom Barlow goal

Tom Barlow - New York Red Bulls - Tight shot

Tom Barlow scored a first-half opener, but the New York Red Bulls would concede twice to USL Championship side Phoenix Rising FC, eventually falling 2-1 in the preseason matchup between the clubs on Wednesday.

After Barlow opened the scoring for the Red Bulls, Phoenix found the leveler just before halftime courtesy of a tally from Lagos Kunga.

Junior Flemmings then added a second for Phoenix in the 50th, off a deflected shot that found its way into the net.

Neither side would manage to strike after that, wrapping the 2-1 final. The result moves the Red Bulls to 3-2-0 on the 2020 preseason through five exhibition matches. The club's next preseason match is scheduled for a Saturday matchup with the Houston Dynamo at Kino North Stadium in Tuscon, Ariz.
