Report: DC United chasing Ligue 1 center back Bakaye Dibassy

TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report

Center back has been an area of need for D.C. United this offseason and the club have targeted Bakaye Dibassy from Ligue 1 side Amiens, according to Steve Goff of the Washington Post.

The 30-year-old Malian international, who also has played left back, might not be easy to pry from Amiens, which is in a relegation battle and reportedly arenā€™t keen to part with a key part of the clubā€™s backline.

Amiens is 19th in the 20-team table with 20 points from 24 matches.

Dibassy, who arrived at Amiens on a free transfer from CS Sedan in 2016, has made 133 appearances, almost all starts, with Les Licornes, scoring nine goals.

Heā€™s appeared in 21 games this year in all competitions, scoring twice.

Born in Paris, Dibassy has worked his way up the French leagues, beginning his career at Olympique Nosiy-le-Sec before joining Bergerac in 2010. Three years later, he signed with Stade Montois and left for CS Sedan a year later.

Dibassy has been capped four times for Mali and made his debut in 2017 in a World Cup qualifier against Morocco.

His last match was an international friendly against Senegal last March when he made a 34-minute substitute appearance.
