MLS Preseason 2020: Quakes score six times over 140 minutes in pair of friendlies

The San Jose Earthquakes closed the Cancun portion of their preseason itinerary with a busy day of competition, playing two 70-minute contests against a pair of local sides Sunday.


Most of the headliners on San Jose's roster played in the first match, with Vako, Danny Hoesen and Oswaldo Alanis finding the net in a 3-0 victory against InterPlaya FC.

Then the second unit matched Cracks del Futuro goal for goal in a 3-3 draw, with Carlos Fierro, Gilbert Fuentes and Chris Wondolowski hitting the net for the Quakes.


Manager Matias Almeyda's men head back to California for the remainder of the preason, which includes a pair of closed-door affairs against USL Championship oppostion. San Jose faces Reno 1868 FC on Feb. 18, and follows that with a meeting against Northern California foes Sacramento Republic on Feb. 21.
