TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report
Uruguayan winger Manuel Castro is set for a move to Atlanta United, according to a Sunday report.
The report, from Infocielo.com, claims an agreement has been reached to loan Castro out to the Five Stripes from his current club, Argentine side Estudiantes. The deal would reportedly be a six-month loan that can be extended through December.
Castro, 24, had previously been linked to Atlanta after rumors surfaced that he was looking to change clubs in the the pursuit of more playing time. He has only made nine appearances for Estudiantes, netting one goal, after starting his professional career in his native Uruguay with Montevideo Wanderers, where he scored 17 goals in 76 appearances. The move would fall in line with the stated desires of Atlanta head coach Frank de Boer, who recently highlighted the position as an outstanding of area of need while addressing reporters.
