MLS Preseason 2020: LAFC and FC Dallas tie 2-2 after eye-catching goals from Brian Rodriguez, Jesus Ferreira

Brian Rodriguez — LAFC — vs FC Dallas preseason 2020

A stunning goal from Jesus Ferreira helped earn FC Dallas a 2-2 draw against 2019 Supporters' Shield winners LAFC at Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles on Thursday.

Fresh from his debut with the US men's national team in Saturday's 1-0 win over Costa Rica, Ferreira gave another impressive glimpse of his potential with a stunning volley from the edge of the box midway through the second of three 30-minute periods. By that point LAFC already had the lead thanks to an eye-catching goal of their own, courtesy of young Uruguayan Brian Rodriguez.

LAFC went in front once again courtesy of a Dallas own goal shortly before the end of the second period. And that looked like it would be the winner until substitute Ricardo Pepi came up with a late equalizer after breaking clear of the LAFC defense following a lofted through ball from Thomas Roberts.

The late goal ended LAFC's perfect start to preseason, following their triumphs over Penarol and NYCFC. Bob Bradley's men are scheduled to next be in action next Wednesday against the Chicago Fire. Dallas, meanwhile, will return to Texas and face off against USL Championship side Auston Bold on Sunday.
