D.C. United got a 70th-minute breakthrough goal from Michael Gamble that proved to be the difference in a 1-0 preseason victory over USL Championship side Louisville City SC in Clearwater, Florida, on Thursday.
DCU fielded a largely first-choice XI at the start, but the match would remain scoreless until after the benches had emptied in the second half, when Gamble got on the end of a feed from Emmanuel Boateng for an easy tap-in finish for the game's lone goal.
It's the first victory for D.C. United of the club's preseason slate, coming off defeats to the Montreal Impact and the New York Red Bulls. DC's next preseason match is scheduled for a Feb. 15 bout with Orlando City SC.
