Longtime West Ham defender and New Zealand national team captain Winston Reid is set to join MLS expansion side Nashville SC on a loan of perhaps six months, according to a report from the New Zealand Herald.
The 31-year-old center back had been a long-time regular with the Hammers prior to a knee injury suffered in March of 2018, but hasn't seen the field for the first team since.
While Sporting Kansas City had also been in the running for his services, Nashville will ultimately be his MLS landing spot, the Herald reports. A six-month loan there would potentially allow Reid to work his way back into consideration for the 2020-21 season at a club where he has more than 200 career appearances.
Reid has been a part of the All Whites' senior setup for a decade, playing all three matches in New Zealand's last appearance at the World Cup in 2010.
