The Vancouver Whitecaps recorded an emphatic preseason win Saturday afternoon against FC Dallas, rolling to a 4-1 victory on the campus of the University of California, San Diego.

The game was split into three periods, and the first ended in a 1-1 draw after Whitecaps’ first-round SuperDraft selection Ryan Raposo deposited in the 21st minute following a turnover from Dallas goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez. Then, Dallas forward Zdenek Ondrasek equalized in the 30th minute.

Entering the second period, a pair of golazos from Vancouver started to put the game out of reach. First, left back Ali Adnan curled home a free kick in the 35th minute for a 2-1 lead, only for midfielder Russell Teibert to rifle home a left-footed blast from range in the 39th minute.

Vancouver sealed the win via Yordy Reyna’s chipped effort in the 80th minute, scooping the ball over goalkeeper Kyle Zobeck to seal the 4-1 result.

Vancouver won’t wait long for another preseason test, as they’ll encounter the LA Galaxy on Feb. 4 at Dignity Health Sports Park. Meanwhile, Dallas will clash with LAFC on Feb. 6 at Banc of California Stadium.
