Inter Miami's USL club now has a name and logo of its own.

The reserve team which will play in USL League One – the third division below MLS and the USL Championship – and make its home in Fort Lauderdale, will be called Fort Lauderdale Club de Fútbol or Fort Lauderdale CF.

“Establishing an identity for Fort Lauderdale CF has been a process the organization has put a lot of thought into because it will be our permanent team playing in the Fort Lauderdale stadium for the long-term,” Inter Miami CF sporting director Paul McDonough said in a club statement.

“The team also serves an important role in providing higher-level competition for talented players who are in between the academy and first team levels of their careers. We can keep them competing in a professional structure until a good opportunity arises for them either with us or elsewhere.”

Fort Lauderdale CF's identity will mirror that of its parent club, Inter Miami, which will kick off its inaugural MLS season on March 1, 2020 at Supporters' Shield holders Los Angeles Football Club (5:30 pm ET on ESPN).

The 12-team League One season kicks off on March 27 when Fort Lauderdale CF will host Union Omaha. The club’s full coaching staff and roster will be announced in the coming weeks.

Four other MLS clubs – FC Dallas, New England Revolution, Orlando City SC, and Toronto FC – will also field sides in the 12-team USL League One. The other seven teams in the third division are: Chattanooga Red Wolves SC, FC Tucson, Forward Madison FC, Greenville Triumph SC, Richmond Kickers, South Georgia Tormenta FC and Union Omaha SC.
