MLS Preseason 2020: FC Dallas top NTX Rayados 3-0 in second Wednesday game

FC Dallas won the second game of a Wednesday doubleheader, topping local amateur side and regular U.S. Open Cup entrants NTX Rayados 3-0 to close out a successful day.

After fielding a largely first-team squad in their 3-2 win over OKC Energy FC earlier in the day, head coach Luchi Gonzalez sent out a squad made up largely of draft picks and players from their USL League One affiliate, North Texas SC.

First-round pick Cal Jennings led the way for FCD all night long, winning a penalty that reigning USL League One MVP Arturo Rodriguez put away to open the scoring late in the first half.

Jennings, the No. 17 overall pick in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft presented by adidas, would go on to score two goals of his own in the second half. His sliding finish from close range gave Dallas their second and he tapped in a cross from fellow draftee Anders Engebretsen to ice the game.

“Overall, the draftees are competing and making the decisions really hard for us,” Gonzalez told FCDallas.com after the game. “We’re very interested in all of them.”
