TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing

Columbus Crew SC have signed midfielder Aidan Morris to a Homegrown Player contract, the club announced Tuesday. Morris played his freshman season at Indiana University last year, earning Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors as well as being named a Third Team All-American.

Morris, 18, had two goals and eight assists in 22 games (21 starts), all while the Hoosiers won the Big Ten championship before falling in the NCAA tournamentā€™s third round to UC Santa Barbara. A US youth international, Morris was named to the US U-20's latest January squad. The center midfielder also has frequently trained with the Crewā€™s first team and was a standout player for their U-19 Development Academy side.

ā€œWe are excited to announce that Aidan will be joining the Crew SC First Team after a very successful season with the Indiana Hoosiers,ā€ Crew president and GM Tim Bezbatchenko said in a club statement. ā€œAidanā€™s success at the collegiate level speaks to the great work being done by our Academyā€™s technical staff and we are glad that Aidan will remain a member of our Crew family. We believe that, had Aidan been in the MLS SuperDraft this year, he would have been one of the top three picks in the first round.ā€

The Crew have been busy this offseason, Morris the club's sixth addition, following Designated Player signing Lucas Zelarayan, midfielder Darlington Nagbe, defender Vito Wormgoor and others.
