Edinson Cavani had been linked to be the newest big-name star to join the LA Galaxy, but a new report suggests that move may be off.

Paris Saint-Germain site Paris United reported Monday that Cavani had been in talks to move to the Galaxy as he appears to be falling out of manager Thomas Tuchel's plans, but LA's pursuit has cooled due to the requested salary from Cavani's agent, reported to be more than $11 million per year.

The report claims the Galaxy balked at that price, and are prepared to move on, while reiterating the claim 2020 MLS expansion team Inter Miami are also interested in Cavani, while not yet beginning talks.

The highest-paid player in MLS in 2019 was Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who made $7.2 million, per the MLS Players Association. While Cavani, a former teammate of Ibrahimovic at PSG, would seem to be a ready-made replacement for the Swede at the Galaxy, there's apparently still demand for the Uruguayan striker in Europe, and time will tell if Cavani joins MLS in the coming months or not.
