New England Revolution re-sign veteran defender Michael Mancienne

TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Re-signing

The New England Revolution announced on Monday they have re-signed defender Michael Mancienne to a renegotiated contract.

Mancienne, 31, has played 26 games in league play for the Revolution since joining in the middle of the 2018 season, scoring one goal. He was hobbled by a foot injury in 2019, limiting him to 16 appearances.

The English native joined New England after considerable experience playing in his home country, for Chelsea, QPR, Wolves and Nottingham Forest, and in Germany for Hamburg, one of the first English players in recent years to head to the Bundesliga.

The Revolution have signed another Premier League veteran, Alex Buttner, this offseason, and expect Mancienne to compete for a starting spot alongside him, Antonio Delamea and Andrew Farrell in 2020.
