Portland Timbers forward Brian Fernandez's contract with MLS terminated

TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Released

The Portland Timbers announced on Friday that forward Brian Fernandez's contract with MLS has been terminated and the player will not be on their roster moving forward.

Fernandez, 25, signed a Designated Player deal in May after his transfer from Liga MX outfit Necaxa, and began his stint in MLS in blistering form, with 11 goals in 19 regular-season appearances in 2019, including goals in his first five league appearances.

The Argentine missed the Timbers' Audi 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs game against Real Salt Lake after voluntarily entering the MLS Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health Program (SABH) for evaluation on Oct. 7.
