Plenty of MLS representation on US U-23s for tune-up tournament in Spain

Brenden Aaronson – Philadelphia Union – strikes ball

US U-23 national team head coach Jason Kreis has called up 24 players to his latest roster for the United International Football Festival in Las Palmas, Spain.

The Americans will take on Brazil on Nov. 14 and then play either Chile or Argentina on Nov. 17, the second game being either the tournament final or third-place game depending on the outcome of the first game.

The tournament will serve as preparation for the US ahead of Concacaf qualifying for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The qualifying tournament will take place in Guadalajara, Mexico in March and April, and the USMNT will aim to return to the Olympics for the first time since the 2008 summer games in Beijing.

16 players currently plying their trade in MLS are on the roster, including three Philadelphia Union players and four from Real Salt Lake. All told, nine MLS clubs are represented on the roster.
