Efrain Alvarez continues strong U-17 World Cup with huge performance

Efra Alvarez is balling out and Mexico are moving onto the knockout round of the U-17 World Cup.


The young LA Galaxy prospect, who broke into the first team this season, exploded for a huge performance against the Solomon Islands on Sunday. In a must-win game for El Tri, Alvarez had two goals and two assists to pace an 8-0 rout. 



The win means Mexico will face Japan in the Round of 16 on Wednesday. 


Alvarez, 17, made 14 MLS appearances for the Galaxy this season, including three starts. In his 518 minutes he delivered three assists. He also had two goals in two US Open Cup matches as well as an assist in two Leagues Cup appearances. 


The attacker is eligible for the US national team and had represented the United States at the U-15 level before switching to Mexico.
