The San Jose Earthquakes announced Tuesday the club has acquired defensive midfielder Judson on a permanent transfer from Brazil's Tombense and signed him to a multi-year contract using Targeted Allocation Money.

The 26-year-old Judson was acquired on a season-long loan prior to the 2019 season, and made 27 MLS appearances (23 starts). He recorded 3.5 tackles per match, second-most in MLS and most among midfielders.

"Two things that make Judson so important to this club are his work ethic on the field and his positive influence inside the locker room," said Earthquakes GM Jesse Fioranelli in a statement. "He has also adapted quickly to MLS and assumed increasing responsibility as the season progressed. Judson has been a professional in every sense of the word and we never hesitated to make his transfer permanent."

Judson was one of just three Quakes newcomers to start at least half of the club's 34 matches in 2019, helping the side more than triple their win total from one season prior.
