Flubbed header from Maxime Chanot leads to Alejandro Pozuelo's opener

Maxime Chanot - NYCFC - 2019

Even the best defenders in MLS have moments they want to forget. New York City FC's Maxime Chanot just had one at the worst possible time.

The fourth-place finisher in 2019 Defender of the Year voting committed a howler with a clumsy header that gifted Toronto FC's Alejandro Pozuelo the opening goal in Wednesday night's Eastern Conference semifinal at Citi Field.

The goal was the Spaniard's first in the postseason. and will mark a low point in what had been an excellent campaign for the 29-year-old Frenchman.

Chanot played a career-high 31 MLS games in 2019 to help NYCFC earn the top seed in the East and keep eight clean sheets.
