Olivier Giroud could still be headed to MLS, but it won't with the Vancouver Whitecaps.

According to a report from SportsNet 650's Dan Riccio, the Whitecaps reached out to the French star, but were told he has a preferred shortlist of destinations that doesn't include Vancouver.

That's a disappointing development for Whitecaps fans, as they try and rebound from a disappointing 2019 season.

If an MLS team does wind up getting Giroud, it would obviously be a major get. The 33-year-old striker is a World Cup champion with France, as he has scored 36 international goals in 93 senior caps for his country. He's been productive at the highest level, most notably during his stint with Arsenal from 2012-2018 that saw him bag 73 goals in 180 appearances. The striker currently plays for Chelsea, but has seen his minutes diminished this season.
