The epic halftime speech by former MLS head coach Jesse Marsch that made the rounds on Thursday is still a topic of conversation days after Red Bull Salzburg lost a tight Champions League match at Anfield Road to European title holders Liverpool.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was asked about the since-taken-down video released by Red Bull Salzburg that showed Marsch urging his team react to a 3-1 halftime deficit. After that team talk, Salzburg scored twice after the break to equalize 3-3, only to give up a Mohamed Salah goal in the 69th minute.
But Klopp is apparently not a fan of locker room speeches making their way out into the public. "If LFCTV put out a video of me in a situation like that, I would leave the club," Klopp told reporters on Friday. "That's the truth and that's all I have to say about that."
A day after the 4-3 loss, Salzburg briefly released a video of Marsch's inspiring halftime talk before taking it down. You can still watch the video in the tweets below (Warning: graphic language).
Former RBNY defender Chris Duvall was convinced that Marsch had more than a little to do with the near-comeback.
The Liverpool match was Marsch's second Champions League game, after becoming the first American to manage in the world's premier club competition with a 6-2 win over Genk last month.
Salzburg and Liverpool are now tied for second in Group E with three points each after two games. They will meet again in Salzburg on Dec. 10.
