WEDNESDAY, 11 AM ET: The US men's national team's 26-player roster for this month's Concacaf Nations League matches vs. Cuba and Canada was announced on Wednesday, with coach Gregg Berhalter calling in 18 MLS standouts as well as eight European-based regulars.

The list includes a debut call-up for Philadelphia UnionHomegrown midfielder Brenden Aaronson and the return of DeAndre Yedlin and Matt Miazga from injury layoffs.

Meanwhile veterans Jozy Altidore and Michael Bradley return to the fold and could represent their country at their club home, Toronto FC's BMO Field, as the USMNT visit Canada in their second match of the window, on Oct. 15. D.C. United star Paul Arriola remains a USMNT regular and is in line to lead the United States at his home ground, Audi Field, when Cuba visit the nation's capital on Oct. 11.

“This is competitive soccer. Any time there is a trophy on the line and in the inaugural Nations League tournament, we want to put ourselves in a position to win,” Berhalter said in a statement. “One thing that’s important is we continue to bring some of the younger guys along, integrate some new players into camp, but also have a familiar base. Most of the guys have been in camp before, understand how we want to play, and we think that continuity will help in our performance.”

Notably, young Ajax fullback Sergiño Dest was not included in this roster after starting both of last month's friendlies, amid swirling reports of the Netherlands making a pitch for the Dutch-American dual national to switch his international allegiance.

“I understand there is going to be a lot of attention surrounding the availability of Sergiño in this next camp,” said Berhalter. “I’ve had conversations with Sergiño, the conversations were positive, and the content of these conversations is going to remain private.”
