Former MLS boss Jesse Marsch makes history on Champions League debut

For the very first time, an American manager took the sidelines for a Champions League group stage game. For the very first time, an American manager emerged victorious in a Champions League group stage. 

It was history for former New York Red Bulls and Montreal Impact head coach Jesse Marsch on Tuesday, as his Red Bull Salzburg demolished Belgian side Genk 6-2.

The 45-year-old is leading Red Bull Salzburg in their first group stage appearance, having fallen in the qualifying rounds each of the last seven seasons. 

Marsch is off to a dream start in Salzburg in league play as well, having won each of their first seven games with a huge +28 goal difference.
